Desktop Layouts

I am still pretty new when it comes to scrap booking.
I have stored up quite a collection of papers and embellishments from the internet.
Did you know there are some amazing places to get free items for your library?

The place I obtained my layout for this blog also has some desktop pictures for you to download and use to make the computer look pretty. In December and January I downloaded and used the ones they had. They were cute but they had the date on them, well the calendar dates anyway.
Whilst checking out the February layout I suddenly realised that there was no reason why I couldn't make my own, I mean I do have a scrap book programme on the computer!

So that is what I did, I sat and designed my own desktop layout.

This one was my first layout and whilst I love the delicate detail of the lace and flowers, the spotty paper was not the best to use with desktop icons. Difficult to view them with all the spots!

This one I went for a more solid colour paper so the icons would show better, mainly because my husband complains if he can't see the icons too well, but I must admit a really light colour on the background does make for a difficult screen to view, however this grey works really well.

Now I will get creative and come up with something for March.

Summertime

Christmas is over, the New Year has begun and the sun is finally shining.
So my blog needs to reflect that so a new design to keep it bright and alive.

Now I just need to start planning a new background and title banner for Autumn / winter.
It is never ending!

Also last night we took the boys to see the local national cricket 20/20 game that was being played between our local team and one from the South Island.
The weather cooperated and we had an awesome evening, although sadly our team lost (which Ben found devestating! Such a sentimental old fool, he shead a few tears!)

However as the game was packing up I saw someone walking through the grounds whom seemed rather familiar to me. I soon realised that in fact it was Dee from dee*construction I have never met her before but decided I couldn't miss the oppotunity to meet a fellow blog so raced over and introduced myself.
So to Dee, it was lovely to put a face to the blog and meet you, if only for 2 mins.

New Banner

Thanks to the wonders of those wonderful people over at The Cutest Blog On The Block I have a new banner (heading at top of blog).
They have so much on their site at present for novice computer designers like myself.
I can do most things on the blog now, but changing html code and such likes is a little beyond me at present.
But with the help of their 'how to' section and the joys of my darling husband, we were able to get the banner looking just right for the design I have from their website.

I love it.....

The Perfect Sleep

Over at Scribbit, she was giving some reviews and finds for the week.

What I liked was the bed she had fallen in love with.

Now I thought a bed was a bed, and that it stood on 4 legs but when you go check out these beds you will see that 4 legs are now optional.

This bed above is actually a New Zealand designer with a company called Okooko. The New York Times did a piece on him and here is what they said:

For Setting Sail to the Land of NodOkooko, a 3-month-old eco-friendly mattress and bedroom-furniture company based in New Zealand, recently opened its first retail store in the United States, in Philadelphia. (There are two other stores, in New Zealand and Hong Kong; a fourth is expected to open in New York this spring.) The company — which takes its name from the Maori word for “to cradle in arms”— sells mattresses ($2,500 to $3,000) made of natural latex, bamboo and wool, and beds ($2,200 to $5,500) made of wood from sustainable forests managed by the New Zealand government. Makes you wonder how comfortable and dreamy these bed can be. I think I need to totally rethink the house to fit beds like this in!
