Lost and Found Update

A couple of weeks ago I posted this about a camera we had found in our back garden.
I had just about given up hope on the guy at the windscreen place obviously doing anything for us to help find the owner.

But this morning my phone received a text from a lady saying she believed we had her camera and could she come round and collect it?

She has just been round and she was very happy that we had gone to the trouble to find her. She had a lot of pictures on the camera and it would have been a shame to have lost them.

So our good dead for the year has been rewarded, one very happy young lady just before Christmas.

Lost and Found

On Monday, Steve came in from the garden to show me a camera he had found there.
A little white digital camera that was at the back of our garden in the compost area.

It was laid on the top of the ground so had not been there too long, plus he was also throwing grass clippings down there just over 2 weeks ago and he never noticed it then.

It is a little dirty and wouldn't go, but this could be because the battery is flat. However he did have the brainwave to take out the memory card and put it into our camera.
Hey presto, up came over 500 pictures.
The camera obviously belongs to a young lady in her early 20's. We think we can even say which one in the pictures it belongs to.
Steve thought he recognised a street in one of the shots but we were not sure.
However in some of the pictures there is a company van parked at the house next door.

So being the little detective that I am, I printed off some of the pictures and went and paid the company a little visit.
My theory being that maybe someone from the company would recognise the house that the van is parked at and then they would in turn be able to tell me where the house is to get in touch with the people next door.

Turns out to be even better once I got to the company.
The guy who's house the van is at was at work, he said yes he knew the house I was looking for and even knew the people in the shots as he himself had attended the party in the pictures.
So I have left him the pictures and my contact details and asked him to please contact the people and let them know I have their camera and pictures.
The house in question turns out to be out the back of us on another street quite close by.
However we are yet to figure out how the camera has ended up at the end of our garden as no street backs on to us only other properties. In fact you have to go down another street to get to one of the houses behind us.
So whether someone stole the camera and has then come through the property behind us or they visited the house behind and threw it our way thinking it would get buried in our garden where we are obviously doing some work who knows?
The pictures are dated from March and April, however we were not sure if they were this year or last, but have since discovered they are from this year.

So I will keep you posted on whether we are able to succeed in our little mission of being model citizens and returning the camera and pictures to the rightful owner or not!

Camera Update

As you will remember Alex succeeded in breaking our last camera.
So thankfully our nice insurance company have helped us out with a new one.
Quite smart too.

It is actually the next grade up from the one we had, but considering ours was 2 years old we never expected to get the same thing.

It is smarter and more up to date, oh and thinner, yes that is right, our new camera is almost like a credit card than a camera.

The picture at the top of the post shows you the front and back of the camera and the other picture shows you just how thin it is!
Buttons all do the same as the last one as it is the same make, but I don't like the flash so much and the movies are not so good when you record them, you can't hear anything!

Kids & Cameras

We have always let the boys take pictures with the camera when they have wanted to, always with us nearby for assistance.
Ben is actually getting really good at taking pictures, and Alex is catching on up behind.

The only problem is that this now means they know how to use the camera, which can have its downfalls when they find the camera laying around and decide to use it without us nearby!

Alex did this 2 weeks ago, and unfortunately we discovered this when we came downstairs to see him trying to close it by leaning on the lens!

One quick call to the insurance company and off went the camera for a 'damage assessment'

The results.......the camera is not economically worth fixing and so a replacement will be issued. So now we are waiting for the insurance company to let us know this officially and then we get to go and buy a new camera. They will give us a voucher for a certain amount and if we want to spend more then we can, so hopefully in a week or so we will be back, well I will, in action with the camera.

Camera

On Friday morning we heard Ben and Alex having a little disagreement.
Steve got up to investigate only to find Alex leaning on the lens of the camera trying to close it!
Of course that meant 1 jammed camera.
So at 8am I am on the phone to the Insurance company to get a claim logged so we can start the ball rolling to see if it is replaceable or repairable and whether the insurance company will help us do this.
So now we are without a digital camera.
Yes there are pictures on the card in the camera, so the first thing when it goes to the shop on Monday is to get the pictures taken off the card and put onto a disc.

So now we wait and see what the damage report says when it comes back!

Photos

Turns out that after I had downloaded all the pictures from the camera that had been sat there whilst we had no computer, I noticed that they are all slightly blurry on the left hand side.
After further investigation we discovered a lovely grubby fingerprint, about Alex size, on the lense of the camera.
So sorry that all the pictures seem to have a nice hazzy left side look to them.
It is quite obvious in the pictures of the firworks and also in some pictures I am about to post about Hamilton Gardens.
Joys of children, all I can say.

Family Time with the Camera

Alex got very clingy the other night and it was such a cute picture, so Steve got the camera out.

Then Ben decided it was his turn to take some pictures. He is actually getting really good with the camera, ok it is pretty straight forward, place mummy or daddy in the window and press the button. Still the following 2 pictures were pretty good for a 4 year old.

As for Alex, well he just liked the pile of wet washing. He tried to sit on the side of the plastic tub and fell backwards, I just managed to shot this before he rolled over and climbed off.

Oh Whoops...

A word of warning from ones that know....if you are ever going to play with the digital camera and see why it won't hold the flash setting you want or anything like that, then please, please download all pictures currently stored on the camera.
This way you do not run the risk of loosing the pictures and video of your son's 4th Birthday, or the cute pictures of your 2 year old son, or the picture of the vegetables that have successfully grown in the garden.

Steve is still feeling really P*#%^! about that one, as it seems he may have accidentally, and I do believe him, wiped all the above from the camera.

Oh well such is life.
