Night Training Update

As you may have read, Alex decided on Saturday that he no longer wanted to wear nappies at night!
At 3 1/2 I was not so sure, but hey, game for anything at this stage.
Results so far are this:

Saturday - dry all night
Sunday - we woke him at 11pm to change him and the wet bed! He had slept through it.
Monday - dry all night
Tuesday - he woke me at 5am because the bed and him were wet.
Wednesday - he woke me at 1.30am because the bed and him were wet.

I have done more washing of sheets in the last 4 days than I have ever done in one week. Luckily for us it is summer and they are drying on the line ready for the evening.
I honestly do not think he is ready to be dry at night as he has no idea when he wants to go at night and he is waking up after the fact, it is not waking him!

Plus the fact I really need a good nights sleep and so does he, so I think I might have to wrestle with him tonight to have a nappy on because I need to sleep! I have been working full time this week and it is beginning to show in the family that we are all tired, so a good nights sleep would be benificial to all.

Nappy Update

Alex once again went to bed with no napy at 7.45pm.
Unfortunately when we went to bed at 11, he was sound a sleep in a wet bed!
Yea for the training cloth under the sheet, only pyjamas and sheets to wash, no matress etc.
He happily agreed to a nappy for the rest of the night, which I am not sure if it was the good thing to do but seeing as the training cloth was in the wash, then I was happy.
Of course his nappy was totally dry this morning, but seeing as he pee'd when he did he had nothing to pee during the night!
Oh well will carry on tonight.

Nappies

When Grandma was staying with us at the caravan, she talked to Ben about how he was big enough now to not have to wear nappies at nighttime.
I think this sunk into his head somewhere?
Well if it didn't sink into his head it sure sunk into his little brothers! Alex annouced last night that he was not wearing nappies to bed anymore!

Now as you may remember from here, Alex is good at annoucing something and then sticking to it. It is exactly what he did when he decided he wasn't wearing nappies during the day anymore.
SO I actually agreed to go with this as I have a feeling it will work.
So off he went to bed last night, no nappy on, a quick trip to the toilet before going upstairs, juice in hand as normal because I am not changing things, oh and a bed wetting cover had been placed on the bed under the sheet.

I can report today that we had a dry night. Yea for us.
He came into me twice last night to snuggle and each time I did ask him if he needed to go and each time he replied 'No'
This morning when he got up he apparently went straight to the bathroom and did his business.

Will keep you posted on how the week goes, but at least it is summer time and the sheets will dry easy. Now we just have to slowly work on Ben and see if he fancies the idea? Although I am in no hurry and I am not going to force the issue, when he is ready it will happen.
Although the real bummer of it all is that we had just gone grocery shopping yesterday and I had just brought a new packet of Alex size nappies!

Next Child!

This morning Alex decided that he didn't want to wear a nappy!
So we put little undies on him and told him he had to use the toilet.
We took him straight there and he did good.
A little while later he told us he needed to go and so off we trotted and did good again.
Unfortunately half hour later we had an accident.
Oh well part of the progress.

So here we are, 11.30am, 2 hours after we started and we are going well.
He has just gone when asked and I think we are in for a long day!

Unfortunately this week is not good for this type of training as Steve is off to Australia on business tomorrow for 4 days and I am working full time this coming week.
So unless daycare are prepared to keep it up right from the early stages and I can put up with all the wet washing each evening then we might be on the home ward bound of having 2 toilet trained children!

My babies are growing up, where did the time go??

Poor Alex

Alex came home from Daycare yesterday with a very sore bottom.
Turns out he had had a few dirty nappies and they has made him very sore indeed.
He had a few more during the evening and we plastered him with cream each time, this was of great help as it soothed the redness. We also made sure he kept his fluids up as he wasn't eating much.
At 10.30pm last night he came into our room sobbing his little heart out, uncontrollable and beside himself.
He wouldn't stay still and wouldn't let me hold him, he just wanted to scream and curl up on the floor, the reason.....his bottom.
So we quickly changed his nappy, but this was very difficult to do as he was screaming in pain due to the redness.
Now I know it had to be done, but it is heart breaking when you have to hurt you child for their own good. He screamed the whole time we cleaned him up, he wriggled all across the bed just to get away from the pain.
He was sobbing when we went to give him pamol, although he realised it would help him and he took a breath long enough to take the medicine.
Finally he fell asleep in my arms and slept the rest of the night between us in our bed.

Today his bottom is much better, still very red but not as sore. He is still having dirty nappies but at least we can change them without him hitting the roof.
